Rexam the world's second largest consumer packaging group and the world's leading beverage can maker entered a new plant in Argayash in Russia. The plant in Russian will have one production line with a capacity of 700 million cans per year, but there are already plans to expand capacity to meet continued market growth. Already working with clients such as Baltika, Heineken, Efes and SunInbev, the plant will produce 50cl cans. |

However, from an economic perspective the jobs created in Argayash will support the local economy by creating 100 new jobs in the region. Russia. Last year the market grew just over 12% and this is expected to rise in 2008.
Sjolin further commented "Along with our plant in Naro Fominsk and the acquisition of Rostar at the start of this year, we are well positioned to develop our Russian business and serve our customers." In conjunction with the new plant opening in Russia, Rexam has also entered into a an exciting agreement with Eli Lilly. Lilly has invested €35m with a view to re-vamping Rexam's existing manufacturing plant, increasing the surface space by 3,800 sq m.
Rexam has been involved in the manufacturing of insulin pens for many years, now with the financial support of Eli Lilly, Rexam is in an excellent position to corner the global market for manufacturing of insulin pens. The global market regarding insulin pens is estimated to be one of the fastest growing markets with an estimated turnover of $22bn by 2012. pens major components, to achieve this the facility will be installed with the latest technology. For instance, high end packaging technology, ultrasound welding and injection presses.
As a direct result of this investment Rexam will again be contributing to the French local economy by creating an additional fifty jobs at the La Verpilliere facility, which is working towards a completion date of 2009. Predictions regarding global insulin pens is a fast moving emerging market, especially within the Asian market where it is estimated to account for one third of the global market by 2025.
