ingredients (APIs) supplier, received a letter from one of its clients in Vietnam earlier April this year, saying that the medical and health regulatory body of Vietnam had approved the import of piracetam and sodium chloride injections developed by Beijing Hefan Pharmaceutical and produced by Jiangsu Chenpai Pharmaceutical.

indication of dehydration. This provided a new approach for local drug makers tomove into international markets--finding new applications for existing drugs.
Chinese Pharmaceutical Enterprises Association (CPEA) president Yu Mingde commented that exploiting new effects from traditional drugs is a better choice for domestic drug makers as a way of competing with foreign counterparts in grim market conditions where the Chinese pharmaceuticalproducers are facing insufficient capital injections and a lower level of the research and development of original drugs.

pharmaceutical companies which are committed to seeking new indications from existing drugs, and establish an innovation incentive system and a drug patent compensation mechanism, in a move to encourage drug makers to become more aggressive about breakthrough research.
